Welcome to The American Hosta Society

Support the American Hosta Society

How can you support The American Hosta Society?

First, you can join the society and second, if you are already a member and are looking for other ways to help, please consider a monetary donation.

Monies given to The American Hosta Society are used to support its publications such as The Hosta Journal, which has a wealth of information for both new and seasoned hosta enthusiasts.  The American Hosta Society also supports research into potential problems effecting hostas, such as environmental requirements, pests and diseases.  Currently, The American Hosta Society is funding research on Hosta Virus X by Dr. Ben Lockhart at the University of Minnesota.  His team is trying to determine how the virus is transmitted, how long the virus lives in the soil and on garden tools, and how the amount of sunlight a hosta is exposed to effects the virus.  Publications and research support are just a few of the ways The American Hosta Society is helping to promote the Genius Hosta. Your contribution can help us continue this work.

Contributions may also be given in honor or memory of a special “Hosta Person” in your life.  This is a way for you to help our society and show your respect for someone who has shared a love for gardening, and especially for hostas.
