2013 National Hosta Show Results

Although the convention theme for the 2013 AHS National Convention Hosta Show was “Escape to Wisconsin”, exhibitors took the invitation to mean “Bring It to Wisconsin”, as some of the best  leaves and plants were brought from across the country.  A total of 46 exhibitors participated in the show and the quality of the leaves, containers and artistic design entries represented had all of the judging panels working hard to select the best from many excellent entries in each class. 

In Division I, Horticulture, Best of Show was awarded to Jeanne Barbee from Orient, Ohio, for her winning leaf entry,  H. ‘Independence’.

Doug Beilstein, from Mansfield, Ohio, was awarded the Best Seedling/Sport award for his very distinctive entry, H. "M 221-1-97". 

The AHS Sweepstakes Award, presented to the exhibitor with the most blue ribbons, went to Ed Schulz from Peosta, Iowa.

Again this year, the class winners were also displayed on a separate table, giving both exhibitors and visitors to the Leaf Show a better look at what constituted  a winning entry in each of the various classes.

In Division III, the following award was given:

Best Trough/Container Garden Arranged for Effect, sponsored by Ron Dow, The Belfast Hosta Gallery, Belfast, Maine

Winner: Concrete composite exhibited by Steve Cunningham, Winchester, Tennessee. 

In Division VI, the following award was given:

Best Artistic Design, sponsored by the Russ O’Harra Hosta Society
