Please note that any contribution may be given in honor of or in memory of a special person in your life. This is a way for you to not only help The American Hosta Society, but to also show your respect for or remembrance of someone who has been special in your life. Local societies are encouraged to remember or honor members in this manner. If you would like, The American Hosta Society will send a notification of your gift to the person of your choosing such as the spouse, other family member or close friend. Just provide that information on the donation form. The notifiation will advise that a donation has been made to AHS in honor or memory of that special person.

Directed Donations

Donations may be made to the General Fund or may be directed by the donor to one of several funds approved by the Executive Committee for specific funding purposes. If no designation is specified by the donor, suc donations will be applied to the General Fund. Special funds for specific funding purpsoes are as follows:

Alex J. Summers Endowment Fund Trust - The Alex J. Summers Endowment Fund Trust was established in memory of Alex J. Summers, founder of the American Hosta Society. Donations to this fund are set aside in perpetuity, with income from the funds to be used for future projects that enhance the mission of The American Hosta Society as well as the vision of Alex Summers. A donation to this fund will continue to provide income to AHS for many years to come.

Registrar's Fund - Donations to this fund will be used by the Registrar for continued improvements to the Hosta Registration process.

The Sharing Circle - The Sharing Circle is a pool of money set aside by The American Hosta Society to be used in partnership with local and regional hosta organizations as "seed" money to help them begin to organize and conduct activities that benefit AHS such as National Conventions. Disbursements from this fund to an organization are made in the form of a loan which is eventually repaid to the fund.
