It’s exciting to see which hostas bring the highest bids during each year’s annual online auction. Take a look at the items that brought the highest bids ($135+) at the 2025 AHS On-Line Auction.

H. ‘Silver Platter’ (V. Serafin – NR)

Very large, vigorous, sun-tolerant and good substance. Two mature eyes with good root system shipping in May from Viktoria Serafin. For size comparison, the hosta at the bottom left corner of the picture is H. ‘Dinner Mint’. Only a very few of these have been sold so far.

H. ‘Green Harbor’ OS (R. Goodenough – NR)

This non-registered cultivar is a seedling of H. ‘Sand Pebbles’ from Rick Goodenough of Massachusetts. It is an upright, large size plant about 24 inches high with green foliage with streaked variegation. Donated by Cochato Nursery, photo credit Lazy Toad Farm.

H. ‘Tattoo’ (T. Avent – 1998)

H. ‘Tattoo’ is Tony Avent’s sport of ‘Little Aurora’. It has a chartreuse-margined, gold-centered leaf with a distinctive darker green “watermark”. 11″ high by 23″ wide. From donor Ron Cote’s zone 6b garden where it thrives; he will send a division of 4-6 eyes.

H. ‘Tapestry’ (C. Wasitis – 2021)

Registered By Chick Wasitis in 2021, this beauty is from an unnamed streaked seedling crossed with ‘Dragon Lady’. It is an upright grower with good substance. A 3-year-old division is registered as 35″ wide by 21″ tall with leaves 12 inches long by 7 inches wide. The leaf margin is dark green, with a pure white center. The margin and center are separated by lighter green and white streaks. Never tc’d and as far as we know not available from other sources. Only 8 plants have left home. H. ‘Lady Thor’ OS (R. Goodenough – NR)

‘Lady Thor’ is an imposing large upright Hosta with elegant long leaves that cascade into a fountain form. ‘Lady Thor’ is a distinctive deep green introduction and at maturity the leaves become quite puckered. The Lady is a stately show-off in the garden. A solid sport of ‘Green Harbor’ which is out of Rick Goodenough’s cross of (‘Sand Pebbles’ x montana macrophylla). H. ‘Hollywood Hansel and Gretel’ OS (Krueger – NR)

Bidding on 1-2 eye division of this streaked, very hard to find gem. Originated by Michael Krueger and Fran Krueger of Hollywood Bob’s Hosta Farm in Wisconsin. From the picture, it is a small to medium hosta. Donated by Ed Thaubald at Bentley Gardens, it will be shipped in April or later.

H. ‘B-26 Marauder’ OS (R. Goodenough – NR)

RARE! A very colorful hosta with bright blue/green leaves and showy saturated red petioles. When the sun hits H. Marauder it glows like fire. This hosta makes a big impact in the garden! Donated by the Lakeville Hosta and Hemerocallis Club.

H. ‘Old North Church’ (R. Goodenough – 2023)

Shiny green leaves with wavy white margins held upright on red petioles. Great new hosta from Rick Goodenough that was one of the gift hostas at the 2024 AHS Convention. NH Hostas will search for the largest one in the batch and send it to the lucky winner.

H. ‘Emma Rose’ (J. Miller – NR)

This huge, heavily corrugated hosta is an original created by Jeff Miller. A true giant hosta with eye-catching bright yellow leaves. This gorgeous girl can was donated by Hostas on the Bluff.

H. ‘The Future King’ OS (R. Goodenough – NR)

RARE! A thin white edged blue beauty! H. ‘Aragorn’ and H. ‘The Future King’ are settled forms of a streaked seedling that Rick named H. ‘Riders of Rohan’. It is a complex hybrid out of (H. ‘I-80’ x H. ‘Painted Blueberry’), both Jeff Moore program plants, x H. ‘Purple Verticulated Elf’. Donated by the Lakeville Hosta and Hemerocallis Club.

H. ‘Makin’ Music’ (A. Scheer – NR)

There isn’t a lot of information published about this cultivar from Alttara Scheer, so we’ll let the pictures provide context. Very rare in the trade, this hosta is donated by Cochato Nursery for spring shipment.
